Success on the job is measured by such yardsticks as absenteeism, accidents, errors, and performance appraisals. If those employees who had one year of experience at the time when they were hired demonstrate better performance than those without such experience, as demonstrated by statistical comparisons, then the experience requirement is considered a valid predictor of performance and may be used in hiring future employees
